After opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, there was pessimism from some about exactly what Brooks might bring back to the table following a season in which he didn’t play.

Brooks wound up emerging as the Sooners’ bell cow running back after the West Virginia game and he carried the football a career-high 198 times in 2021.

Brooks registered five 100-yard-plus rushing games, scored a touchdown in nine of Oklahoma’s 13 games and had at least 14 carries in 10 of the Sooners’ games.

In fact, Brooks rushed for 20 or more times in four of OU’s games this past season. His best games of the 2021 season came against Texas and Oregon.
